Yeah, the duval cops are no joke. Thats extreme, pulling you over just to check tint. It seems like they come our VERY strong in the morning on weekends.. I always see motorcycle cops on 295.

Duke309, HP performance rocks. They are the absolute best at tunning. Do you ever go to the BJ meets? Maybe I'll see ya around.

316.2953 Side windows; restrictions on sunscreening material.--A person shall not operate any motor vehicle on any public highway, road, or street on which vehicle the side wings and side windows on either side forward of or adjacent to the operator's seat are composed of, covered by, or treated with any sunscreening material or other product or covering which has the effect of making the window nontransparent or which would alter the window's color, increase its reflectivity, or reduce its light transmittance, except as expressly permitted by this section. A sunscreening material is authorized for such windows if, when applied to and tested on the glass of such windows on the specific motor vehicle, the material has a total solar reflectance of visible light of not more than 25 percent as measured on the nonfilm side and a light transmittance of at least 28 percent in the visible light range. A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

I've argued my way out of several tickets by just calling the police department, and talking to the cop.. (in some cases just flat out bothering them wasting their time until they say ok geez I'll take care of it.)

Anyone know the tint law in California?

I just picked up a 98 GT that has tint in on it and I'm wondering if it's legal or not?

You guys, law enforcement officers have had the ability to check the tint on all of your windows for a long time. They carry a device called a Pocket Detective.

Pocket Detective Link

The reson LEO's pull you guys over for tint is for their own safety, they aren't doing it just to be dickheads. Years back before the tint laws went in to effect, there were a lot of officers that were killed when approaching a car with tint that was so dark they couldn't see the pistol pointed at them. They are just trying to protect the lives of other Law Enforcement Officers.
