Tire pressure for nitto DR's?

I have 16 inch Nitto DR's on my pony rims,on the street I run em at 32psi's. At the track I lowered the pressure to 25,,didnt notice any real difference. If I put it lower,in the teens, wont safety become an issue at 90+ MPH ?

i put mine at 20 and didnt notice a difference, then i dropped them down to 15 and did a major burnout before i ran. really work, actually it bogged the car down because i only launched at 3500. put them at about 15 and like i said do a good healthy burnout.

i never saw a problem. ran prolly 3 times with them like that and a friend borrowed them and ran another 3 times on them. oh yeah it will drop ur 60 ft quite a bit. i was running 2.2's at first then ithink i dropped them down to a 1.9. my friend ran 1.8's or 1.7's launching at like 5500

I would lower them down to 11 psi.
I'd do a good smokey burn out and they would hook pretty good.
By the time I got back into the staging lane it would still be up around 18 19psi.
One good burnout raises the temp/pressure real quick.
The first time I ran them at the track I met a guy who had allot of experiance with them. I wasn't so sure but he talked me into going that low and he was right.
Just treat them like a slick.

I run mine at 18psi at the track and 22-24 psi on the street. Once you start getting into the mid-low teens (psi), stability will become an issue at higher speeds.
Millhouse,Im looking at you mods, and pretty much all you have that I dont is the edelbrock intake!! Your runnin 13.5,s?? Dam :nice:

A little OT, but if you are trying to drop your 60ft's, try disconnecting one of the swaybar links. This will help transfer weight better. You can reconnect it easily as well. I removed mine completly.

Yep, unfortunatley I wasnt able to run last year in the cool fall air, or I may have a 13.3 or 13.4 in my sig :D. The way it stands right now, my intake was only worth .3 tenth's at best. I thought it would have been more, but I do believe my stock tb and maf are restricting the true potential of the performer (not including the stock heads of course).

As for my tire pressure raising after doing a burnout...I know this. I get the most even tread wear at right around 24lbs on the street, so 18 was the magic number for me. Any less than that and I believe my tires were starting to cup, thus loosing traction. BTW, 11lbs of pressure in nitto's sounds way, way to low. I've heard of people doing it sucessfully with bfg's, but I'd be weary to try them with nittos.

I agree,,11lbs is scary low!! Man!! 13.3,,Im impressed,,you must be launching at 5 grand!! I have an aod,,I rev it up just a little, when the lights are 2 away from green,I nail it and depend on the flash of my converter.Im going again this Sunday.I gonna lower my pressure to 15lbs!! Im wondering if the dynomax bullets will do anything for me? I have them in my kitchen!! Rite now I have 3 chambered flowmasters.

I hoped for a 13.3, but I didnt get a chance to run last fall. :D

I launch right around 4k, and slip the snot out of the clutch. I've done it that way about 150 times now, and my clutch has the same feel as when I bought the car used :nice:.

We're talking about drag racing right?
We're not worrying about tire wear at the strip are we?
A tire that is "cuping" driving around town isn't going to be cuping when you drop the hammer @ 4000rpm.
I'm not trying to start a flame war.
I'm just saying experiment with the tire pressure, I did and for me, I hooked better at 11psi then say 15/16psi. And, I lived to tell about it, LOL.
No, honestly the guy who was coaching me was running way faster trap speeds then my 110 111mph.
