i just lowered my car and the front fender gap went away but the rear is still a little higher then i want, im gonna need new rear tires soon so i figured i would get ones that are a tiny bit taller to reduce the fender gap, right now i have 245/45s in the front and back. would 275/40s have a taller sidewall then a 245/45? i want the new mickey thompson drag radials and they only come in 275/40 for 17inch rims and i want tires that are a tad taller. thanks

The 2nd number is the sidewall heighth, so, the 245/45 would be taller.

I would take out one of the isolators, top ones probably and use some thinner material of some sort that might be more to your liking than running a bigger tire.

245/45 and 275/40 are the same height overall. A couple of options for a little taller are, 255/45 and 285/40-17. If you want the Mickey Thompsons, you may as well just run the 275/40 and not worry about the gap.

You could also get some ride height adjustable lower control arms to bring the back down a little more.

i found some 245/50s, 245/55s, 255/50s and 255/55s. which ones should give me about an inch or so of height? i dont want ones with too tall of a sidewall. i dont really understand how tire sizes work, i was told at one time that the first number is how wide the tire is and the second number is the sidewall hight which is a percentage of the width. so a with a 245/45: 245 is the width and the 45 is the hight ,meaning the height is 45% of the 245 width. i have no clue if this is true or not.

That is correct about the sizing.

245/50-17 = 26.64"
245/55-17 = 27.61"
255/50-17 = 27.03"
255/55-17 = 28.04"

All of them would give an inch or more over the 25.68" of the 245/45-17. Not sure about clearance issues, most of them would probably work fine. You would probably have the best luck with either the 245/50 or 255/50.

The sizes are metric but I put the overall diameter in inches. For comparison's sake, the 245/50-17 is almost exactly one inch taller than the 245/45-17.
