I am about to slap on the KB 9psi kit and I am going to upgrade my tires aswell. I bought new rims (18x9 & 18x10) today and now I need some recommendations to what tires to get.

I have been planning on putting 305 or 295 in the back and 275 or 265 in the front. I am using my car as a daily driver so I need tires that have a good amount of grip. Noice level should be low and thread wear should be good. Wht are your recommendations for size & brand? And where should I go and buy them?

Joe

In that size, you are going to really limit your options, but that is the same setup I would go with.

For a daily driver, I would look at Kumhos Ecsta Supra 712's or Yoko ES 100's. But, I am not sure if they are in those sizes. Check www.tirerack.com or just give them a call. That's what I would do. You may want to put Nitto's in the back and something else up front too.

I just got the Eagle F1 DS-G3 in 275-40/17s and I love them. Great traction and great launching, but they were expensive. If you have the cash I recommend them.

Where did you order them? The more I read about it the more I am leaning towards the 265 & 305 combo. Or can I go 315 on a 18x10 rim?

Nitto NT555DR Drag Radials for the rear and some Nitto NT555's for the front. You can get some 315s for the rear

I was told that a 315 would fit on a 10" rim by my local discount tire. I plan on getting some 315's BFG DR's when my 295's are gone.....which is very soon.

KB = Fun!

Tire brands aside, here's the thing you'll find with the KB 9# Intercooled, torque crazy, wheel spinning, tire screeming blower. If you have as much fun as I do, and put as many miles on your car as I do, go for the balance of cost and performance rather than just "what's the best tire"... there is no such thing anyway seeing as everyone has their own opinion. So...

When I put the blower on I was running Michelin Sports, a great tire, but expensive. After the blower install, I tore thru those in no time! Knowing my driving habits would not change, not after installing this monster funning loving KB, I went back to Kumho's, this time the MX instead of the Ecsta 712's, which were a lot cheaper than the Michelin's. They are excellent tires, and aren't too bad on the track (unlike the 712's) and are hard so they wear and last longer. I am real happy with them, AND I haven't tore thru them yet, and that's with almost 5K miles on them already... I do a lot of driving, daily driving.

hey just thought id add some input here, I just put on a set of toyo proxes t1s and they are outstanding tires. Great leaunches, and superb in the turns, if they have them in the size you want, I would reccommend them, plus they are a bit cheaper than the gsd3.

Hmm.. I recently talked to a guy that had nitto DR's. He said they can't hook for jack. He told me that if I want to go with drag radial.. go with bfg.. I was kind of surprised myself hearing this after I've read endless good things about nitto here in the forum to each of his own I guess..

You heard Nitto Drags are a better overall tire. Unless you live at the track and don't drive in the rain. Also the nittos will last longer.

I have the same tires as xAchillesx, while I don't have the monster power you have I can say they are a great Mustang tire.....I live mine....I run 275/35/18 front, and 295/35/18 in the rear.....

yeah, I have been looking at the Mx's but I have the same problem with them as with the others.. I can't seem to find them in 305 or 315.

I guess I am going to go to the local discount tire and see what they have to offer me.

Thanks for all the information.... I am definately going to go either 305 or 315. I am still contemplating on the front width.. 265 or 275

Thanks,

Joe

the BFGs that come on the new roush are awesome , drove a 03 stage 3 the other night and those tires are bad ass , Gforce TAs I think , not sure which one of the few G forces they were though , I think they make several Gforce tires .

315's will fit fine on a 10" rim. I have 295's on a 9" rim and they are perfect. If I were you I would go 265/35 up front and some 315/35 Nitto Drag Radials out back.
