I'm trying to improve the tire situation on my fox body. What I got works and I'm satisfied with it, but I'm hoping I can do a bit better.

It's an 88. I've got a set of Bullitt wheels from American Muscle. I'm prety sure they are 17X9. I didn't buy them new. The 5 lug conversion is all ranger parts. A spacer is on the front wheels to prevent the center cap from popping out. Right now I've got a set of 255/40's on the back and 225/45's on the front. you can see in the pictures the front wheels stick out a little farther than the back.

My goals are to get rid of the spacer, have the wheels stick out the same distance, and just put the same size tire all the way around. I'm guessing, based on looking in these forums, I need to switch over to the 94-95 Spindles, but I don't want to do that on a guess.

Anyone got any suggestions?

It’s not a guess it’s a fact. You need the 94/95 spindles, 94-04 V6/GT rotors, and 99-04 V6/GT calipers.

Reason for the 99-04 calipers is they are twin piston and have a lot better clamping power.

If you are going to stay drum in the rear then you will only need to swap the master cylinder out to the 94-98 V6/GT master cylinder but a 93 Cobra unit would be ideal.

I forgot to link the thread which is the Bible on five lug swaps.

Ultimate 5-lug swap thread - new/updated

This thread is a work in progress. I've unlocked the thread for feedback and questions and if i've missed something or need to correct. I'm still adding/editing. Wanted to make a new thread to replace the old thread which has info scattered around in many posts. Hoping to consolidate...

How big is your spacer?

Reason I ask is because the 94-95 spindles add 3mm per side over fox stuff. So if you have a 1/4” spacer (6.3mm). Your net overall change will be 3.3mm inward. Is that enough to make a difference for you?

I run the 94/95 spindles on an ‘86 (don’t let the aero nose confuse you). I have 245/45 on 17x9 bullitt wheels in the front. Not sure of the backspace and offset off the top of my head, but they are the ones. from American Muscle. I do have the plastic rack limiters installed, and with that, I have no fitment issues at all. (17x8 would probably be better, but these were the wheels I wanted). I found out I needed the rack limiters the hard way, so make sure you put them in if you go this route…… it’s easy, cheap insurance. I would definitely recommend that as the way to go.

thanks guys, this is all a bunch of really great info! It's exactly what I was looking for.

@limp do you have a link to the brake kit? I need to start doing some parts and pricing research.

No, but it was a " person name company" like Donaldson or something like that... I believe I got the name from this site...
No core charges or hidden charges and a decent price....
EDIT, Found it.... Callahan brakes on Prime......
Unfortunately it looks like the price has more than doubled from the $163 I paid in April 21
Tried to attach a pic, but seem to be unable to.....

Soon as I saw Callahan, I thought "Isn't that tommy boy?", and they sell brake parts.
