Before I get my 1989 Mustang GT painted, I want to lower it with the Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs and put new 17x8s with new tires on it to make sure I have no rubbing issues. Can anyone tell me what size tire I need to keep me from rubbing with the lowering springs? I am also open to 17x9 wheels and tires if they will fit without rubbing. Thanks.

the 8's should fit well with a 245/45 up front, my '84 doesn't rub unless i crank the wheel all the way to one direction (seldom happens)...

not sure if 9's will fit out back without some "massaging" of the inner fenderwell...i used to have a set of 275/50/15's mounted on 15x8 draglites out back and they rubbed everytime i hit a bump

there's more guys on here that are better versed on it though

Thanks for the help. More than likely it will be 17x8s all the way around. Im just curious what tires will fit front and rear with the Eibach lowering springs so I can get my order right the first time. Thanks.

I would like to know this as well, I'll probably go with the same springs and I've heard different answers from different people. The general thought is that 275's are the largest you can go out back without doing a lot of work. Most people seem to run 245's on 17x8's up front, but I've seen people running wider wheels and/or tires as well, so I don't know what rubs...

I have 17x9 at all 4 corners with sportline springs( 2" drop) on my 91 LX... 255/40/17 on the front and 265/40/17 rear... I rolled the rear fenders for clearance...
17x9s rub the front control arm at full lock, but a set of rack limiters will solve that problem...
