Tire size question. HELP!!!

My best friend also has a 1990 Mustang LX Coupe. It has been lowered and now has 17 x 9 Cobra R's on it with 245/45/17's. He wants to put some drag radials on it. Whats the widest tire size he can put on that wheel, on the back and not get any rubbing? Thanks in advance.......

i ran 255/45/17's on my 90 GT vert, wasn't lowered though.

I don't think he will have a prob. with 255's, if he does, jsut rip out those quad-shocks
