Would a 275/40/17 tire fit on the stock 5 star 2000 GT wheel?

EDIT: Just bought the 00 GT and it could use some new tires but I want to get ones that will fit some FR500s when I get them down the road. So I wanted to get tires that would fit the new wheels as well.

Would the long answer be "yes, with problems?" Or will they fit fine? Is the stock wheel 17X8?

It'll fit a 17x8" wheel. It may have some bulge though because it's designed for a 8.5" wheel.

The 275s are only $7 more per tire than the 255s. I just want to make sure I won't have any problems with a 275 on a 8" wide wheel. Thanks for the assurance...haha

EDIT: Also, will I have any issues with running a 275 in the front? (ie fender clearance ect.)
