what the hell are these measurments measuring? For example. the "original equipment tire size for the 02 GT is 245/45-17. what does the 245, 45 mean?
I know the 17 is for the 17" rim though...I am at www.Tirerack.com and i am looking for more of a lower profile tile, but not the much of a difference. any info on what those measurment would be great. what would the sizing be for more of a sportier "lower profile tire be for example?

245 = Width of the tire at it's widest point from sidewal to sidewall in MM

45 = Aspect ratio which is a % of the width so the sidewall is 45% as tall as the tire is wide.

Alot of people don't know all of this so tire mismatching/incorrect sizing happens. Unless you equally match the two differences it will be taller or shorter.

Like on F-Bodys all of these tire sizes are very close to each other:
245/50/16
235/55/16
215/65/15
275/40/17

Divide mm by 2.54 to get inches basic no ?
245 = mm
45 = % of 245
17 = inches

Go figure

It's like at safeway, one food item is 35 cents per oz, the one next to it is 80 cents/lb. Try to compare welcome to america

Yeah, pretty sure it's 2.54 cm per inch. So then it's 25.4mm/inch.
