Hey, I have 03 GT mustang. I am about to lower my mustang but I have noticed a lot of tire ware on the outside edges of my tires. They are in the rear but just got rotated recently. I dont drive my car real hard so I dont see why it would be so bad. Anybody else have tire ware on the outside. Would an alignment take care of this?

actually it wouldnt. you cant adjust the caster or camber on mustangs unless you get plates. you need to buy a set of camber plates(i highly suggest the maximum motorsports ones).

EDIT: there are minor camber adjustments, but to make a real difference you would need the plates.

If it's on the outside and inside edges, it is most likely an underinflated tire. If it is outside only, your toe in is probably off. Yes an alignment should cure that if that is the case. If you lower your car over 1.5 inches you may need CC plates to adjust the proper camber. It will be too negative causing inside wear.

I am having the same problem on my 1988 Mustang GT with 5 lug conversion. Only the front tires are wearing, and only on the outside edges. I had an alignment done after 3000 kms, but the problem is still there. My car is much higher in the front than in the rear (something to do with the suspension setup I guess). I'm not sure if that is what is causing my problem. Maybe the alignment set the toe in correctly, but the tires are probably still wearing due to the damage that was already done. What do you think?
