Sorry for asking probably such a simple question but for an 18x9 rim, what size tire should I get? I see that the most common size is something like 275x35x18... also does it mess with the speedometer at all? I sure it will not be perfect but how much of a difference will there be..

oh... I have 97 cobra if that makes any difference...

thanks

you could go bigger...295/30/18...not sure how big you can go on 18's

Your speedometer will be off minimally...won't make a noticeable difference.

Most people run a 275, but I have 285's and they fit perfectly.

ehh.. my current set-up (stock) are 17x8's i believe with 245/45/17

so the total height of my current tire/wheels = 220.5 (2 side walls of the tire <245*45%*2> + 431.8 (17" to mm)= 652.3 mm

I already set my speedo to match 275/35/18 with reflash

so the total of that will be 192.5 (2 side walls <275*35%*2) + 457.2 (18" to mm) = 649.7

that makes the height of the stock setup with 17" rims 2.6 mm more than 18" rims with the tires mentioned above..

Hopes that helps

Cool... that helps alot... I guess I will just not worry about being off at the speedo a little ... I just didn't want to be off like 10mph or more..

also is there a way to correct for tire size on a 97? i know it is in the computer of the 99+....

265-35-18. The 295s would be too wide of a tire.

Are you looking for 18x9's for all four rims? 265/35's for the front and 285/35's worked well for me with my old stang. Here's a pic and all rims were 18x9's......

I already had a speedcal because of my gears, but I was able to compensate the speedometer by changing the setting on it.
