Tires for the occasional weekend racer?

Hey so I have a supercharged 2V making ~400rwhp and it is my daily driver (I don't have to drive far). But I occasionally like to take it to the track and make some passes. I currently am running ****ty tires on the stock 8" wheels. I plan on going to a staggered set up (9" front and 10.5") out back what tires do you think I should buy. Like I said my car is primarily a daily driver but I wouldn't mind sacrificing a little tread life if they would hook a bit. I don't expect 1.7 60' times just something nicer than what I have now. I heard good things about the Kuhmo XS and hear that the Nitto 555 is a good tire but it won't hook what do you all think?

I have 315/35/17 Nitto drags on my DD and they are fine. I do drive very cautious and slow in the rain.

My recommendation would be to go with a Nitto DR or regular street tire on your new rims and buying a slick or better drag radial like MT or M&H for your stock rims. Use the later for track only, and stock rims are alot lighter than deep dish wheels.

MT drag radials. Traction will be a thing of the past. Use your head in the rain, and you are ok. The only time I have street tires on my cars for the last 10 years is for road trips.

The bottom line is get a drag radial tire. No regular street tire will do you any justice at the strip.

Keep in mind the number of times you drive the car in the rain, and take that into consideration when looking at tires. A few passes with my Hoosier DR and there is no tread on the tire at all.
