Tires slipping?

One time at the track I heard a loud BAM from the back of my car when I hit the juice. Scared me, but I kept my foot in it. Ran a damn good time too. No one else heard it of course, so I thought I was imagining things.

I only had about 25 lbs of air in my street tires.... after that run, one was down to 12.

I still don't know if I believe it.... it was on my crappy 16 rims too. Very strange... but maybe???

What kind of tires are you running? If they are reg street tires, it's very hard to believe they slipped. Street tires don't get enough traction even at the track to do that. Now if you're running slicks or some meaty drag radials (Good ones, like BFGs) I could see it. Anytime I mount a slick or drag radial, I never use the tire slime (crap you put on to get the bead to seat easier) That stuff will make a tire spin on the rim until it dries.

You sure you aren't experiencing wheel hop?

It is a real quick "grab...slip...grab...slip...grab...slip"..that is what it feels like...

Street tires are almost impossible to make them slip on the rim unless you have some "insane" drag suspension...

Wheel hop doesn't let the air out does it? :D BTW - I don't believe it could have happened either, that's why I never posted it. :p

But he had the guts to post.. so I thought I would back him up. :hail2:

It was directed towards the original poster...

I don't know what yours did...
