Has anyone ever heard of or experience rear tires slipping on the rims? I'm almost positive that it's happening to me on a launch. I figure it can't be the clutch or differential, they both have less than 200 miles on them.
One time at the track I heard a loud BAM from the back of my car when I hit the juice. Scared me, but I kept my foot in it. Ran a damn good time too. No one else heard it of course, so I thought I was imagining things.
I only had about 25 lbs of air in my street tires.... after that run, one was down to 12.
I still don't know if I believe it.... it was on my crappy 16 rims too. Very strange... but maybe???
What kind of tires are you running? If they are reg street tires, it's very hard to believe they slipped. Street tires don't get enough traction even at the track to do that. Now if you're running slicks or some meaty drag radials (Good ones, like BFGs) I could see it. Anytime I mount a slick or drag radial, I never use the tire slime (crap you put on to get the bead to seat easier) That stuff will make a tire spin on the rim until it dries.
Maybe the sprayed the VHT before the runs? I don't know... all I know is my car hooked hard that one run and my tire was almost flat by the end of the run.
