I'm going to lower the stang soon, H&R springs and Blistens. The thing is with 17inch tires I think it might be to low and bottom out. Would I be better off going with 18s? I assume 18s will give me a little over a half inch more clearance then
17s?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the first number the width in mm, the second number the sidewall height as a percentage of width, and the third number the wheel diameter? If so, the 275/40-18 would be 26.7 inches in diameter, giving exactly 1/2 inch more ground clearance than the 275/40-17 (25.7 inches in diameter), and the 265/35-18 would be 25.3 inches in diameter, making them actually slightly smaller than the 17's.
