I have ran KDWS's and liked them very much. I am also running Sumitomo on both the Cobra and LS1 and for a low cost street tire(I have DR's for the track) they are pretty good.

I was thinkin of getting..

Continental ContiExtremeContact or Kumho Ecsta ASX

any opinions on them?


As for what im using my tires for.. mostly daily driving all year round.. i dont do anythin fun with my mustang anymore due to the fact that I might give it to my mom soon to buy a new mustang.. but still deciding.. as for budgets.. no more than 4 tires for $500..

I have General Exclaim UHPs on my GT right now, i love them. The Exclaim UHP's are General Tire's high performance tire. They have a great looking tread design, grip well, are supposed to be a summer tire, but their tread style repels water in the winter as well, and they don't have too much texture noise on the highway, and they're priced just right too.

There are so many great tires out there.

+1 for the Generals. Great all around tire without breaking the bank. I have them on my DD and will get them for the stang soon.

I have the S-03 pole positions on my car and love them. They do tram a bit, but most wide tires do. AWESOME in the rain.


You get what you pay for with tires is what i've found. I've run everything from cheap Kumho's, to Goodyears, to Pirellis' to hancooks, to Bridgestones, and a few other brands. The more expensive tires tend to outperform the cheaper tires in my expeirence

you guys know you can buy kdws at wal-mart they are special order but you can. Also I agree go to tire rack and look at the ratings and stuff you are the best judge to what is best fro you.

Make sure you check the date codes on any tires you buy.

Tires have a 6-year life span no matter if they sit in a dark warehouse or on the car.

Some companies slash prices on tires trying to get people to buy them and prey on their ignorance to date codes. The people buying them don't realize they are buying 4 year old tires.

BFG says the shelf life is 10yrs., but in my experience, they show signs of dry rot much sooner than that! If you want to check the manufacture date of the tire, look for "DOT" on the sidewall (it will read something like "DOT B H M O BH 21 1502"). The important characters are the last 4! In other words, this tire was manufactured on the 15th week of 2002 (3rd week of April '02).

+1.... The grip is amazing. I run these on my blown notch and soon to be on my GT as well.

If you are driving year round the BFG KDWS's are good all around tires. They helped me get through lots of snow this year and they are pretty decent at dry performance.
I bought my car with them on @ 50% tread. I have done tons of burn outs with them and this winter I was driving around with maybe 10% tread.

I will buy them again! That is IF I have to drive this damn thing next winter!

Hi,

My last two sets have been Fuzions ZRi's 245/45/17 and 255/50/17 they are a nice tire for wet and dry IMO and much quiter and better then old GYrs that Ford fitted as standard on the 03 GT.

Since they come from the same molde as bridgestone for the money I can't complain and I get around 20k on each set. Thats mainly street driving I don't do much strip racing

I like the BFG Geforce KDW or whatever they are called,Ive also used Kumho which arnt bad tires,dont last as long as the BFG's,Had Goodyears on when I got it and just like every car Ive gotten with Goodyears on them I have blow-outs with them,I WILL NOT OWN ANYMORE GOODYEARS EVER Seriously Ive had them on trucks,ta's,z28's and my stang when I got it and had blowouts with all of them,but never had a blow-out with any other tire.Thats my experience.I had this set of BFG's for just over a year and a half and Id say they still have 40-50 percent left,not alot of tire burning..car dosent see the track either.

BFG KDW's Rock, just got mine 2 weeks, or so, ago. I just love them, they look awsome, drive great in the rain and when its dry. Heres a few pics of them

+2 for Firestone Wide Ovals (Previously Firehawks). For the money I don't think you can get a better tire. Great in dry and rain, lower road noise than the OEM Goodyears. They are about $130 at Tirerack last I checked, and Firestone will honor their price. I am guessing I am going to get about 35k to 40k miles out of them. I got 38k on the Goodyears before the belts started to show.
