TKO 600, 3rd gear help?

I have the TKO 600 and cant get into 3rd gear almost everytime at high RPM's or when racing at the track, but it shifts good when Im driving normal.
what could be causing this?
could it be the shifter?
or the syncros, tranny has about 3000 miles in so its broken in.

ive heard this before and i think what solved it was a cable adjuster
