???to all t-56 guys

I did a AOD to t-56 swap and I can't seem to get my speedometer cable unit to make a seal in the tranny. Do I need to jimmy rig a gm part in there or am I just missing something? Do I need to put RTV sealant around the unit before putting into the tranny? Any and all help will be well appreciated. Thanks guys-

There should be an O-ring around the housing that goes into the tranny.
First the speedo gear, than the housing, and than the speedo cable.

Try twisting the gear around in the hole -make sure speedo gear is in-line, if you haven't tried this already. When I put mine in it took some finagling for the unit to lay flush with the trans. It didn't slide in easily like yours.
