To box or not

Got my Ford HD UCA's today. They are identical to my stock ones except for the bushing is stiffer. Would I gain anything by boxing them before installing? They will be going on w/ MM lowers and new axle bushings from MM as well. GR2 shocks and gas-adjust quads. MM recommended using the Ford HD uppers, so I did.

I got a new bolt kit for the lowers from 50resto. I can't seem to fing UCA bolts, any ideas or links? Guess I could just buy the same size grade 8's.

I would box them personally, especially if you have a welder, it wouldn't cost much. Only the price of some steel.

I was going to box all my stock control arms, but decided to go with the MAC kit with both uppers and lowers.

thanks, I guess I'll just go ahead and box them. I have some plate around the same thickness and a welder. I was expecting them to be stronger than the stock ones. Like those boxed Steeda's or something. At least thicker material.

While we are on the subject...just exactly how do you box control arms?
Do you just weld a piece of metal across the open ends on the bottom?

Basically, yes. You're just turning what is a u-shaped piece of metal into a box-shaped piece of metal. The box is much stronger.
