Do it, I think the center looks empty without it. I put mine in and never regretted it. I hate the way it looks when I take it out.

Bah forget the wife. Do what you want to do, after all it is your car and you have to deal with it.

Do it, the shifter looks so naked just sticking up out of the carpet in the center hump. The console finishes the interior IMO.

Well if the Wife still acted like the girlfriend that she once was,
I would take my console out...............

I think the interior looks much better with the console in, but it's up to you. If you decide to not use it, let me know

it depends

pulling the console and leaving a stock shifter there all alone is aesthetically displeasing. Pulling the console and replacing it with a humphugger and a BM Mega Shifter is a rocking good idea. I am going with the latter. But it is your car. Do what YOU want to do, not what a bunch of strangers tell you to do.

Just a thought

FYI
For whatever it is worth the new Unique Performance 350SR 40th Anniv. edition has no console. These cars are selling for around $170,000

Pulled mine out immediately after I got the car. Looks better decorating the wall of my garage IMO

Stangs had the nicest pony/musclecar interiors

I say install it. That's one of the distinctive things about the Mustangs - really nice interiors for a pony car. Here's a (nice) Camaro interior:

http://www.classicmuscle.net/1967%20Camaro%20Pace%20Car%20Clone/interior%20copy.jpg

Chevelle: http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds/photoads/malmros/interior.jpg

Barracuda: http://www.jefframin.org/img_0948.jpg

Firebird: http://www.universalautosalesandclassiccars.com/images/1968%20Firebird/68FirebirdInterior.jpg

The Mustang interior is the nicest - celebrate it with a console! If you've got one of the uglier cars above, delete the console and put an aftermarket shifter and steering wheel, 'cause all you've got is an unsophisticated brute anyway.

Only better one in the "pony" car category might be a Cougar or a Corvette, but I'm not sure you'd call a Corvette a pony car . . .

The little lady's looks kinda nice. It does mess-up the romance thing a bit.

I searched the swap meet for a couple of years and it was mostly over priced junk. I ended up putting in a new center console from Tony D. Branda Mustang. www.cobranda.com/GetItemDetail.asp?ItemID=1685&CatID=768&DeptID=4

Nah. Take it out. Nothing says musclecar like a bare carpeted transmission tunnel. Consoles look great in BMW's though
