I have the opertunity to buy a set of Ebrock heads for $500. They have 5,000 miles on them and are in great shape. They are the performer 60289 heads with 1.90" valve. Now the question is should I buy these heads? I want to achieve 300 Rwhp, I plan on using a Performer intake as well. My other option is to buy a new set of TW heads, which I know will get me into the 300 Rwhp range. Will the performer head let me get into the 300hp range and will it do it with my e cam? If not what cam would I need? I do not want to go for a custom cam so if I need to change the cam which OTS cam do I need?

Thanks,

Mario

Your nuts if you don't grab them. Edelbrocks are very good heads, and they may not perform quite like TFS or AFR, they have the potential to.

Olymaster Do you have any dyno numbers or track times? My combo would be very similar to your except for the trans (I have a t-5) and the MAF.

Thanks,

Mario

If they're the new improved Edelbrock heads, the intake ports flow just as well as TFS or AFR heads.....they just fall behind slightly on the exhaust side. I have the new RPM's on my 85 and it makes a lot of power.

I bought my TFS heads this week for $1143 shipped from Summit, but if I knew someone that would sell me some Performers for $500 that would have been great! Buy the Edelbrocks and get them ported

When was the new design introduced, and is there a way to tell the difference by looking at them.

Thanks,

Mario

I would say get them, if they are the older design, get some port work on them, even if you don't , they are much better than e7's

i agree. i paid 750 for my performer rpm intake/heads.

they had portwork done and flow with afr185's. i have no comparison since it was a whole new motor everything went on, but it pulls hard. no complaints.

Get them now, a guy was selling me a set of Trickflow heads for $600. I waited a week before I let him know I wanted them, I call him to let him know I want the heads. He tells me he needed them after all . Even if the don’t flow like TFS or AFR, they still flow better than stock and weigh a ton less.

If you decide not to due to preference or financial reasons WHATEVER, I'll buy em. Heads are my last piece to finish my motor. I've been debating the cash for AFR or getting ebay eddy's. I'll take em for $500 I live in south jersey and would drive pretty far for that deal. Let us know your decision.
