So im wondering if itd be wise to keep my 35th anni. gt convertible and eventually swap it over to standard being that it is an auto...or possibly jut find someone to trade for their standard. I mean im not crazy for thinking someone would be willing to trade a regular gt coupe 5 speed for a gt convertible am I? lol and yes its the real 35th version...its prod. number is like 3,1xx somethin i cant exactly remember off the top of my head. Anyway thanks in advance

Oh wow an actual 35th edition!

Seriously though there are a million special editions that badge means nothing to the value.

The 4R70W is a much better trans than the Trash-3650 be happy with what you have or trade it do not swap trans.

Why so harsh? I understand not that there are a bajillion special editions these days (yours included) his 35th "LE" was still a upgrade over the standard GT in 1999. Why hateful tone?

To the original poster, I'd keep it.....if your gonna trade up, get the next 5.0 GT

Kilgore's got a point, TBH. My car is a GTS, one of like 1,200 in laser red, but I guarantee it's not worth more than a dime more than a GT especially when the GT has MORE options.

On topic - don't swap it, just trade the car up for something better. New 5.0 would definitely be a plus!

The 35th anniversary vert is definitely higher value than a coupe of the same year just because it's a vert. Auto GT's are easier to sell, hence worth a little more to the dealer. The 35th anniversary package is a selling point over a non-anniversary model of the same year, but it'd have to be in great shape with low miles to add any significant value to a collector-wannabe.

I'd think you could get a similar mileage coupe for very little on a trade-in of a vert. Or sell the vert outright and find a manual coupe for significant savings. The verts run ~$4K more than a coupe when new, and dealers have a hard time selling sticks, so the dealer would be trading a hard to sell car for a higher value, easier to sell model.

If you want a manual sell your car and go buy an 05+. You can find a low mileage S197 for around 15k. As for people saying get the new 5.0. Sure its going to be the best stang to date but you are going to pay around $40,000. Get a 05+, spend another 4k on a blower and beat up on the new 5.0s that is what I will be doing eventually.

Actually you're wrong. The real 35th packages had different seats, interiors and wheels. Not all of the 35's had the 35th package...

and i agree with voorhes, why do you gotta be a dick so often? Just when i start liking you, you start being rude again...At first i thought it was because you lived up north, but i know thats not it because i know plenty of kind, jovial people who live up there too...

if the only tool in your tool box is a credit card then I guess buying a new car rather than try a swap makes sense

if you want to keep the car because you like it, but you'd like it better with a 5 speed do the swap...it ain't rocket science, but those sorts of swaps are much easier with a donor car available for all the fiddly bits

if OTOH you are looking at the car as an investment...maybe you want to re-think it, unless you have something VERY unusual there are just too many Mustangs for any of them to be real valuable
