This weekend is supposed to be up to 70* outside. That means I will finally be able to paint my engine compartment. That also means that very shortly, I will be able to put the engine and trans in. I have a somewhat built motor *see signature* and a relatively stock tranny. I'm trying to figure out what converter to get. Edge makes a converter that I'm interested in ( Mild Street Edge ). I'm also thinking about getting a Lentech Street Terminator Valve body.

FINALLY, the moment you have all been waiting for...The converter I'm looking at is a "lock-up" converter. Will this be ok for my set up?

Just incase, eventually I will be running 4.10 gears.

Thanks for your patience!

my girlfriend's 88gt will be receiving the lentech valvebody, the edge torque convertor(I think lock up?) and a new shifter.

to answer your question- I talked to edge racing and I believe they said a lock up would be better for hers. (she also has 4:10s)

hope this helps a little

Maybe I should just shoot edge an email or something then. About that lentech valve body. It will let you shift manually right, but which direction does it shift? Do you pull or push the shifter? Thanks!

It depends mostly on what you are doing with the car. If you plan on mostly track racing, go with the non lockup converter. It will pull much harder in 3rd gear. Especially if you're running the Lentech valvebody. If you do alot of street driving and want to keep the better gas milage, do the lockup.

I'm running the Edge 3000 stall in my car. It getting a 331 with all forged internals and I just installed the lentech valvebody in the trans. The shift pattern is just like stock except for the switch for OD.

I know when my motor was like it was in my sig, it really fell on its face when you shifted it into 3rd because of the trans locking up.

Don't forget to install a beefy tranny cooler to help prolong that aod's life.

I'm mostly driving it on the street...Approx. how many mph will I be shifting out of second with 4.10 gears? Right now I can almost hold it until 85mph...stock gears, stock motor and tranny.

Does the valvebody come with all the wiring and the OD button and such?

Thanks for the replies!!!

With the 4.10's you'll be shifting alot earlier than 85 mph. Not sure exactly what mph but it should be alot sooner.

You can buy the valvebody with everything you need including the wiring, switch, connectors and anything else that you might need. i needed one connector to finish the job in my car. Hardest part was drilling the pan to get the wire through and making sure it sealed. Some pipe sealant and silicone and job was complete. Took about 20 minutes with trans out of the car to change the valvebody. Wiring it up shouldn't be too hard either. Instructions were very good.
