Just put this out for advice- I am a few months away from purchasing my new Mustang ('01 Cobra or possibly an '03 Mach 1) and my question revolves around what type of mods I will install- Here is my current thought process:
1. Magnaflow X-Pipe (without Cats) exhaust
2. FIPK from K & N
3. Overdrive Pulley Upgrade from ASP racing

After that- I am lost for the quick and easy upgrades. I don't have a pluthera of money to throw into my mods- but my ultimate goal is to get over 450hp over the next year or so. Are these first three a good idea- or should I utilize my money in other ways???

exhaust midepipe and catback, shifter, gears. screw the k&n and the pullies until later. those little mods add up $$$. with some gears and exhaust you will have a big smile. gears and mid pipe should set you up nice to start with.

It's not a mod, but i'd recommend going with the mach 1...i have a buddy with a 2001 cobra and another with the mach...then i'd say don't bother witht he fipk or pulleys and get some gears and a cat-back to go with the x-pipe...short-throw is good too...pretty much what hognutz said

Which gears would be the best to install?

Depends on which car you go with. Well, possibly. Don't the Mach's come with 3.55? I'm personally happy with my 4.10's, and I'm still contemplating a supercharger in the future.

man get the mach 1 looks nice plus the seats are bad azz. get exhaust and gears, probably 410. get a cam. densocharger, pulleys, headers. i have an 04 gt and i dont want to mess up my warrant so i wont do a cam. just exhaust. u might wanna check with the dealership for warranty issues.

LTs = Long Tube headers...you would also need a shorty mid-pipe to go with them and i would say you might as well get a cat-back to just finish off the exhaust...i'd go with 4.10s if those are your only mods on it, but i'm still curious about the 3.90s

Get the Mach 1. Its newer, same engine basically, SOLID AXLE, and better interior. Plus the shaker hood is awsome. The only down side is, you can't say you own a "Cobra". ;) :p But the very first thing you should do is take your car to a local shop and have them cut off your cats or buy a O/R midpipe. Then the next thing you should do is get a set of 4.10 gears. That should hold you over for a while.
