sooooo...i guess i'll go ahead an wrap then. just need to figure out what material to use. hmmm? any suggestions?
i would just paint it, like people said the air is not in that pipe very long at all. as long as its sucking in cooler air from the fender you should be fine

adhesive heat sheild wrap 40 bucks per sheet. in stop and go traffic metal intakes are terrible. on the go they are great but are still wamer than normal.
pic of my air box
steeda has some heat sheld wrap. www.steeda.com . i wraped up my steel airbox with it and made it look clean by taping the edges with aluminum exhaust tape. the temperature does drop on the intake side, i was able to verify it with the predator data logging. good mod to do to a daily driver with metal intakes.
some food for thought,
drag cars are way different than daily drivers and road race cars
drag racers never have the clean air taken off of their front bumpers. a road race car and daily driver can potentially have at one moment or another various cars in front of them blocking the cold air from getting into the engine.
has anyone seen the intake wrap job done to the fr500c race car? it has a carbon fiber tube and the air box in heat sheild wrap.

also there is no harm in wrapping up the tube in the heat sheild wrap.
the main concern is the airbox

well i'm actually wanting to wrap the intake tube which is aluminum. i don't thing the heat shield wrap will form very well on the cylinder shaped pipe. i might just do the header wrap, but does anyone know if you can paint the wrap material. i think it would look better and stay cleaner if it was painted black. any thoughts?

get rolls of nomex tape. do anything that makes you feel better. 1/2 hp here and 1/2 hp there = more power.
