Too much Offset? help please

I am looking at some wheels for my car and they are 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear. I'm a little concerned about the offset. The front offsets are +30 and the rears are +42. Is this going to be way too much offset? I really like the wheels they are SSR Varden Sports and i think they would look really good on my car and I would be one of the few people running them. I'm not really opposed to using spacers if I have to to get them to look right. I don't really know much about the offset stuff and I just need to know what you guys think about running something with that much offset.

Positive offset is usually indicative of a FWD wheel. I've noticed that offset measurements are written as either "24mm" or "+24mm." I think the lack of a "+" in a description would indicate negative offset. Negative offset is usually found on RWD cars. The presence of the "+" would definitely mean positive offset.

Factory Ford Mustang 9" wide wheels usually list 24-26mm offset, which would be negative offset AFAIK. Factory 8" wheels are listed with 30mm offset, which would put the outside of the wheel closer to the outside of the wheelwell than if it used 24mm negative offset. (The mounting surface is closer to the inside of the wheel than the outside, 30mm from the centerline.)

(Offset is how far from the wheel centerline the mounting surface is. Negative puts more of the rim outside the lugs. Positive has the lugs closer to the outside of the wheel. Putting positive offset wheels on a Mustang would tuck the wheel way into the wheelwell, probably hitting things in the process.)

The fact that the wheels you are looking at specifically indicate positive offset tells me they are for a FWD car. They won't fit your Mustang.

The guy was running them on an rx7 and he also sent me some pictures of them posted on a cobra he said that he had spacers on to get them to sit flush with the fenders. He is gonna throw in the spacers for 50 extra buck so i figure its definitely worth a try...
