I washed/waxed the car today, took some pics, put it up on AutoTrader. Hate to see her go when she's looking and running so great... Oh well, all is good!

Insurance is too much, looking to get into exotic coupe (either a 964 turbo, 996 NA, or RX7 FD + LS1&cams/nitrous).

That does not even f'n make sense... Insurance is too expensive so you are going to trade for a car that is even more expensive to insure?

And if you can afford a 964 turbo then insurance should not be a problem for you?

Dang all that work just to dump it off into someone else's hands. And I don't see any pictures. If it is running fine then I see no reason to get rid of it... like Killy said, if you're thinking of getting those cars you mentioned, I don't see how insurance on the Mustang is too much for you.

It make perfect sense to me! The two things that get young guys in insurance cost is engine displacement and age of car. Brand new cars with big engines = big insurance bill. Currently the mustang is costing me $1,800/6m, a porsche on the otherhand would save me $600-$900 a year. Big kicker is an RX-7 would only be $600/6m, I figure most insurance companies see 1.3l as a golfcart engine and let it slip by.

964 Turbos can be had pretty cheap, $30k for a 3.3l - the 3.6 turbo II's are much, much pricier and considerably harder to find. Same thing goes for a 996 C2, 2000-01 models can be had between $25k-$35k if you know where to look and how to make offers on the cars.

Steve; I'm considering taking the supercharger off...but right now I want to see how my car will do on the open market as-is. If I do decide to take the blower off, whoever I sell it to will most likely be local, and also I will probably do a parts exchange stock stuff for blower parts + cash.

Oh of course I probably won't be going the pcar route - maybe next fall if I really wanted to. Porsche is more of an ideal situation/dream at the moment; on the otherhand I could do an 11 second RX-7 for 14-16, wich should easily be covered by the sale of this car. Might have enough left over to pickup a sixer or a Focus

If you go porsche.. try to find a 944 turbo (951)...they can be had for around 10k in good condition, and with minimal mods it can be made into a complete monster.

No that old porsche should be alot cheaper to insure...incase you guys dont know about the cars.

1994 964 made 355HP, ran 12.9s in the 1/4 and topped @ 174ishMPH. Weight = 3246

2000 996 made 296-300HP (conflicting), 13.28 @ 108.1 - 13.5 @ 103 in the 1/4 (conflicting), and tops at the same 174MPH. Weight = 3032

So im not sure whats better. On one hand the 964 would be MUCH easier to mod for HP as it already has a turbo. BUT its freegin 14+ years old....so the newer 994 would probably be the better choice for a reliable vehicle.

So whatever you want man...pretty much a toss up IMO. If you get an RX7, get one with the REAL motor that comes with it..but it will NEVER come close to the quality of the porsches. And if it has an engine swap then its just a tin can with a big motor (re cheap and probably unreliable). The turbo RX7s can be made FAST with their 98CI engine

Word. If I got an RX-7 I would do an LS1 for the reliablility, and torque . Rotary motors are notorious for blowing up for no damn reason. Not to mention the fact that they are insanely expensive to repair (repair correctly atleast lol). With the money I save on insurance alone (not to mention gas) I could afford full boltons in just 6 months lmao... I know plenty of guys who have fast (sub 12's) FD's with 2 rotors, and even a couple guys with 3 rotors...but still the motors are dogs down low, hard to work on, and finiky.

Same, we got two FC's with LS1's and a buncha FD's with rotary motors.

EDIT: Damn, That's a clean FD. Bet it cost less than both our cars, too
