So my BMR tubular LCA's are exhibiting what I've heard from other people. Unfortunately, I'd heard it after I ordered mine. I've had a terrible squeak from the back for weeks, and I'm hoping that this is the problem. But, at the same time, last time I was at the track I launched at 5500 and heard a loud pop. So who knows which it is. In any event, I don't feel like dealing with the BMR LCA's anymore, especially because putting the BMR arms in their relocation brackets sucks (the bushings are a hair too wide). Right now it's between CHE and J&M. What do you think?

That's unfortunate and I know which ones I'm not going to order in a few weeks...

Yeah, I mean I know these things wear out, but I only have probably 3500 miles on them and 40 or 50 passes or so.

J&M Hotpart FTW!!! Love mine but they're more Auto-X / road race oriented so probably they wouldn't work well for a long term Dragstrip car.

I'd get some Spherical bushings.

wow, I can't say I've ever seen that happen, and I come from the off-road world haha. I will bet you that that is your pop at the track (think about it, all the load that bushing say at 5500 RPM launch, that has to be what cracked it), and your squeek. I wouldn't doubt if you hear a clunk or two every now and then either...

I have no firsthand experience with any of those convtrol arms, so I can't really help you. I know I've put Traktek stuff on an F-body with good results, I think they make parts for our cars too.

On a side note: How high do you usually launch at the track? Do you have the stock clutch? You seem to be at the track every week, have you had any problems with launching that hard, or are these cars pretty durable?

Yeah, I'm almost positive that was my pop. I think the squeak is the D-Specs. Everything seems tight, so I don't know what the problem is with those. Guess I'll have to have a suspension shop check them out.

I've been launching around 4-4500 with the drag radials and 3.31's (stock clutch), but last time out was the first time with the 2 Step, so I dialed it all the way up to 5500, hoping to prevent bogging (still bogged).

I have probably 40-50 runs on the '07 and 100-120 runs on the '05. Stock driveshafts, clutches, rear ends, etc... This is the first thing I've broken. So yeah, they're pretty reliable. I thought I burnt my clutch up on the '07 the one time. I tried to shift from 1st to 2nd during the burnout and the tires grabbed and smoke started rolling from under the hood. Didn't want to shift too well that run. But I let it cool off and haven't had any trouble since then. With adding nitrous to the '07 soon, I'm going to have to get a new clutch probably next year. (and probably hot rod cams)

If you listen closely at launch on the 2nd run, you'll hear the pop. The full size HD version of the video you can hear it better, but it's there.

Have you contacted BMR about this issue?

Are you running poly/poly, or poly/spherical? I'm running the later, hoping that I won't have to deal with your issue.

We let Speed Inc. private label our parts under the Traktek name so you actually purchased J&M parts with a different sticker on them.

Nope. Like I said, I don't like the way the BMR LCA's fit into the relocation brackets (or stock mounts, for that matter). If I'm going to pull them out, I'll put something else in their place, as I don't want to deal with them again.

poly/poly. Apparently BMR had a bad run of bushings. Most of the people with issues bought them around them same time. I'm sure they'd give me a free replacement, but I'm just wanting to put something else in.

steeda control arms for the win..

also i would think aftermarket control arms would be able to handle High Launches at the track more-so than the stock piece of crap ones..

I havent track tested my arms yet, cant wait for my track to re-open 1/4 mile concrete in Oct.

I actually only use first in the '07 since it has 3.31's. I was trying 2nd just for the heck of it. On the '05 with 4.10's, I always do the whole thing in 2nd.

Just as a point of interest, I know that Metco had trouble with regular poly bushings in their LCAs for our cars as well. They switched to spherical to solve it. Love my Metco billet LCAs (have them on both my cars) but I'm guessing a tubular steel LCA would be better suited to your track use.

That explains why they look identical to J&M parts, and came in an unmarked box with no identifying marks whatsoever haha. High quality parts, as far as I can tell though. Make a 360 RWHP car dead hook on the street

I know everyone swears by the J&M LCAs, but I have them with the relocation brackets and they squeak constantly at low speeds. It probably is worse because I have a vert which creates more flex in the chassis I guess.

If they squeak then something went wrong with the install. PM us your phone number and I will call you so we can figure out what went wrong.
