I cant decide so I decided to turn to all you folks at :SNSign: for your opinions. Im tired of my 04 GT being N/A, but im torn between spraying it or getting a blower. I know spray is cheaper but im worried about blowing the engine apart, but then I love the whistle a blower makes and everyone elses that I looked at seems to makes good hp numbers but they also have a ton of other bolt-ons and I dont feel like buying a bunch of useless crap that I dont really need and a blower aint cheap, at least on my income Im so confused Its a daily driver so I dont want to go crazy with it. Its all stock right now except for the exhaust and a K&N.

I'd go with a supercharger. Although a bit more expensive at the start, a complete kit will

a) give you power all of the time, whenever you need it
b) be less of a hassle to install and worry about
c) cost less in the long run, depending on how much n2o costs in your area and if you blow your engine or not

Also nitrous seems cheaper at first, but all of the little things needed to run nitrous safely adds up quickly. I'd save up a little more and get a blower, it's an... investment

A KB blower IS bad ass, but you need to make sure you get a good tune and have it installed properly, plus it's big bucks.

Right now you have an essentially stock Mustang so of course you want it faster.

Dude, you may want to look into a set of 4.10 gears and a custom premium fuel tune for the setup you have now. Probably run you $800-$900 or so for the gears, install, tuner and tune. You said your car is a daily driver, just something to think about...

If you have the money and downtime is no big deal by all means get the KB though!

If my car was paid for and I had the money, I'd probably have one!

I was throwing that around as well but I cant think of a good place close by to get it tuned at (Joliet, Illinois area), not a whole lot of big time ford guys in my area, or i atleast I cant find them. its basically bowtie or die. the only good place I found to install the gears would be the ford dealership which I know for a fact wouldnt be cheap. Im looking at this as a "go big or go home" kinda deal. hmmmmm.ill have to re-evaluate my thoughts on this situation over some cold ones.

Contrary to popular belief, as long as your fuel and ignition components are in good condition, you'll be able to run 100-shot of nitrous worry free. Many, many are running as much, with a few running a bit more with absolutely no trouble. So blowing up your engine shouldn't be a concern for you. You're at no greater risk blowing up your engine with a moderate shot of nitrous than you are getting a bad batch of fuel and pushing things with a blower.

That being said, I've never considered Nitrous all that great for daily driving. Especially if the driver has as heavy foot. It doesn't take long for the well to run dry and it can get expensive.....as much so as the cost of a blower over a the course of a year or two.

As for which blower you should choose, that will depend on your budget and where you want to see your power made. Centrifugal set ups are by far the cheapest and will run with any comparable sized Positive Displacement blower on the street, or at the track. They don’t make the bottom end grunt that the PD blower will make, (and if that’s a really big deal to you, stick with a PD blower) but how much torque do you really need? The stock 260hp and 302lbs/ft the PI 4.6L is already tough enough to put harness on the street as it is. Is adding another 100lbs ft of torque right at the bottom end of the spectrum going to make it any easier to control? I think not!!!

Sure, the bragging rights of having all of that bottom end torque is nice, but unless you’ve set aside a good chunk of money to upgrade your tires and suspension to match, you’ll not reap the benefits of that added grunt by any stretch. As cool as tire smoke is to make, watching the other guys tail lights disappear in the distance while you’re buffing the ash vault isn’t exactly the place you want to be. The Positive Displacement blowers like a Twin Screw or Eaton based units are a nice set up to run and in the case of wanting to get a heavier and slower based vehicle like an automatic equipped convertible (or Mercury Cougar ) up and running, they work really well, but they’re a lot more money by comparison.

.....so keep all this in mind when you’re budgeting for one.

Tons of Ford guys in the area, just have to know where to look. Have you heard of CMC (Chicagoland Mustang Club)? We have a number of local sponsors from tuners to installers. Sutton HP is on our site, as well as Kurgan Motorsports - he has tuned a number of CMC cars and can answer any questions you have via PM on the site.

LINK to CMC Forums

Join the site and go down to the sponsors section, shoot any of them any questions you have and they will get right back to you. You can also check out Chicago SVT, they have a number of sponsors who are installers and tuners as well in the area - Speed Inc, DID Racing, Deans Performance, Straightline Performance, Sutton, etc...

LINK to CSVT Forums

Over at CMC we have a number of meets and track days throughout the year, our big opening Meet and Greet of the year is taking place April 14th - should see over 100 cars in attendance, last year we had around 70 Mustangs. Sutton is also having a dyno day in the Spring.

Check out the local forums, tons of good info. I am from the Northside of Chicago myself - I have the same username on CMC and CSVT so if you have any questions, just let me know!
