Torque Box Question

I just recently picked up an '89 Hatch with a 331. It has SSM rear lift bars on it as well. When I picked it up I didn't know to check the torque boxes as this is my first stang and I'm just learning. I got to looking at it and the lowers are tearing out a bit. I'm going to buy the Wild Rides Battle Box kit. What I'm wondering is if the upper is ok should I bother getting the kit for the upper?

do both. The uppers can tear just just like the lowers. It's worth while.

I'd say just weld the uppers, that whole S-box is way overkill
