I am going to be replacing my whole rear end tommorow (drum to drum). But i hear of alot of people doing thier strengthening thier torque boxes when they do control arms. What is a torque box and well i have my rear end out of the car i might as well as strengthen the torque box. Does anyone have any pictures or can u explain what a torque box is?, what it does?, why we need to make them stronger? I do have access to a welder i dont know if that helps.

The torque box is where the control arm bolts through on the car!! They are only spot welded from the factory and are notorious for ripping out on hard launches. Just put some small welds around where the box and the frame meet on both sides. Do this on the uppers and the lower control arms. THis is where they meet the car, not the rearend!! Good luck!

Yes, and pay careful attention to what he said. small welds. If you get it too hot for too long you will stress the metal next to the weld and weaken it. I would put 3/4" long stitches max, and wrap the corners in weld. If you have alot of welding experience, disregard my rambling. Now is a good time for some full length subframes from MM. They help save the torque boxs too, and since you will be under there welding anyway....can I bring mine over?

i already have full lenght subframes. Another question should i get new upper and lower control arms. the ones i have on thier are stock.

wow the torque boxes snap?? i really hope i dont have to worry bout all this suspension 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'...im putting in a new 306 with like all the freakin mods...im goign to have alot of hp and torque... my tranny is AUTO but its just been rebuilt with all heavy duty parts and shift kit..2400 stall converter.... am i gonna rip apart 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me' on my rear with all this torque im gonna have?!? oh man..i see ppl push some high numbers and never touch their rear or suspension and it holds up fine..i have 1990
