I'm looking into getting a set of good hooking tires, and before I do so, I want to make sure I don't break anything I may need... TORQUE BOXES!!!

But, I honesty don't know where they are or what they look like. (flame suit on) I know they're near the axles and tires, but I want to make sure that they are fine, or buy re-enforcements before tires.

I do have SFCs welded in, so I was thinking that the shop who put them on should've welded the torque boxes as well, but just want to check.

SO PICS OF TORQUE BOXES THAT ARE IN GOOD SHAPE AND PICS OF BAD WOULD HELP BIG TIME

Thanks in advance.

Here is a picture of the passenger side torque box of my lx. This was taken prior to getting the plates put in. You can see a crack in the upper left corner. Stress cracks usually come from the inside from stress on the control arms. By the looks of it, mine was cracked by a previous owner trying to jack the car up on it.

I have pictures of the Battle Boxes installed, but they are on my other computer. If nowone posts, I will find them for you.

Oh crap... I have a few spots that look like that but have indentations (most likely from a floor jack).

In the morning I'll go out and take pic of the whole thing under the car.

As long as the whole thing is not caved in, I wouldn't worry about it if it looks like mine. It actually looks worse than it is. The outer perimeter is fine and the torque box is not out of shape. Like I said, you should look more at the areas where the control arms bolt in. I saved the pics from this thread, but can't find them anywhere.

Alright, if the part is what I'm thinking of on my car, The mark is about 3 inches or so, and it does look like the previous owner tried to jack it up right there.

A look from inside the car.

Finally, a picture of the subframe connectors looking from the front of the car. Note the extra piece welded in the front for added strength. In the picture, it's in the upper right corner.

the upper and lower torque box reinforcements can help a bunch. They can be had all over the internet, but are basically all the same. The one's rick has I'm not familur with but I'm sure they are top notch. Its a smart move to install reinforcements before you have problems with em.

There is a pic of mine. The indentation isn't shown as clear as it is on the car but I think I got the right piece in the picture.

That doesn't look too bad. Someone can easily straighten that out. Other than that, it looks to be in good condition. As long as there are no major cracks where the control arms bolt, it's fine.

they actually look ok, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to have the reinforcements before any damage could occur. plus back weld your torque boxes all the way around. Then they will last you a very long time....i even dare to say forever!
