Torque Convertor install question

I have a AOD from a 1990 5.0 converable. I'm installing the torque convertor on the transmission. It goes in with three steps. After I have it in as far as I can get it, I took measurements with a straight edge and scale. I'm 3/16" from the center hub to the plane of the housing and it's 15/16" from flat right by the stud for flexplate connect to the plane of the housing.

My Haynes Mustang manual doesn't cover this subject. I need to know if it's installed properly.

There are 3 items that need to engage on a torque converter. #1 is the input shaft into the very center. #2 is the external splines off the front pump to the internal converter splines. #3 are the 2 'flats' (do they still use them?) on the external converter tube into the cooresponding flats which are part of the front pump. Install the TC without the input shaft to make sure it fully seats like that. If it does, your problem is getting the input lined up. Make sure the converter still wiggles easily BEFORE you tighten the housing bolts! (and after)
