From what I've read the stall you need is dictated by your cam and it's torque curve. You want your stall for the street about 500 RPM below the torque peak and for the track at the torque peak. For my Crane 2030 cam a stall of 2500 is a good compromise and works well. With too high of a stall you will give up some RPM range on the low end which will affect streetability.

I'm running a D&P products 9.5" custom with damper, Torrington bearings and a 2500 RPM stall. Works great.....need wider tires

Good Luck, Don

Davs50: Which converter are you running from edge? Who else is running them on here that I might be able to talk to? How many miles did your tranny have on it when you installed it? ARe you running the lockup or nonlockuop? If non lockup how many rpms do you run at 70 on the freeway? I was trying to hold out for a pi stallion but if these edge ones are just as good they are half the price....

Yea ,yuor rite,I kinda jumped into a stall,Its a Precision Ind.2800 (stallion)it could be about 400 rpm's lighter, but its not real big,so there wont be any driveability issues. And Precision Industries makes a top of the line converter. And besides its a total "BLAST" to drive!!If I hade it over to do I would get a 2400 with stock hp!!

I'm running the Street Edge 9.5" converter. Amazing piece. RSW007 has one, not sure if he's on here but he is on The Corral. He's down in the low 13.30's with just bolt ons and stock motor. A few others over there have them. All working great.

My trans was all original and had 40 K on it. Had it in all last year and never failed. I just sent it back to Edge to get the lockup removed. Going 331 and h/c/i and wanted to get the most at the track. I hardly ever drive it on the street anymore.

Call Andre at Edge and talk to him. He is very knowledgable and will explain everything to you.

I know a guy who has a 93 LX hatch with a built auto, 4.10's, converter, yata yata. He got a B&M converter without researching, and it locked up and ruined his $2,000 tranny. He since got a hughes converter and is very happy with it.

Moral of the story, don't go cheap on converters. Go with recommended brands on the boards here. From what I have heard, Precision Industries Stallion converters and Edge racing converters are some of the best out there. Sure, they are expensive, but from what guys on the boards here are saying it is worth it.

I know one thing for sure, I think I am gonna hold out for a PI stallion or an Edge. JMHO.

I have an AOD and the car is a pig and I wanna go with a 2500 stall convertor, shift kit, and 4.10's. The motor is bone stock except for exhaust such as h-pipe and cat-back. My current times are around 15.3-15.4 and I was wondering how much I will pick up or if it will hurt me since im stock by doing this and if so will I be able to keep up with the stick cars, if not I'm just gonna throw a 5-speed in it cause it will cost about the same. Thanks for your help guys and tell me what you think....

The converter will do wonders for your track times. I would go with the 2800 or so, especially if you keep the lockup. Adding a 2800 converter and drag radials took six tenths off my 1/8 mile times with my 82 carbed car.

Wow I can not wait to get a nice converter either. 4.10's are going in first though.
