i think this will be a tech question but if it doesnt feel free to move

im trying to get a resipe for a torque monster. im saving the fuel inj on my car.undicided on a 306,331,347,351,393,408.i dont want to rev past 6000 r's
and if i can use a cast iron head it would be great. point me into the right direction. i have 3-302 blocks and 1-351 block to work with. i have a explorer intake on my 302 now and if i use a 351 i will have to find a lower, therefore i want to have, whatever i use, to look like is somewhat stock. i dont care about the sound.

there was a post a couple of days ago there a guy took a rebuilt 351 with a dish piston, afr's and a carb and was laying down like 450 at the crank i think. i was likeing the idea of that i will be using a t-5 for now and 3.73. i gonna talk to a machine shop for some assistance too.

if anybody has a setup like i want please post the parts so i can print it out

Use a 1.5” intake manifold spacer. This will give you more torque. Also no more than 2.5” exhaust pipe, also use small headers. Use a small cam. Do not use a big throttle body, 65mm is fine.

go with like a 428 stroked 351, that would be better for torque.

More cubes, more torque! Go 351w, even stroke it!

Intake spacers are a joke, forget that. More trouble than they are worth.

Stroke this stroke that, ahhh! I say go 460!

A mild build will net you over 500lbs. of the stuff. If your not into the BB then go for a Turbo/SC. Just make it a bullet proof bottom end and you can just go super mild up top.GT-40 or worked E-7's, stock cam,OR if you wont a rumble get an alphabet cam.Cobra intake or used GT-40 Then add some boost!

Boost equals GOBS of torque.

try a nicely dressed 331 with a 2.2L Kenne Bell on it....would be alot of fun if you can ever get the tires to stop spinning

an 872 is a custom race block. it wasn't production in anything. the block costs around $13,000 i believe.

maybe ill stick with a 331/347 set up, that way everything is guaranted to fit. i dunno, i like the theory of a 351 with iron heads and gt-40 intake. its soo hard? i really dont want to do boost even though it makes power but for a sweet s/c its like 3500 then i would have to buy an expensive block, and i dont think i want to that. i got a 302 and a 351 block to choose from, im undecided?

You don't want bigger than 2.5 unless you're running a LOT of cubes (like 426+) or some serious forced induction or turbo.

Also, cubes are the magical torque maker. You definately want a long runner intake, and you definately want full length headers and full exhaust.

i think im gonna hunt me down a lightning 351w and go from there. i know they have gt-40 heads and i can have them ported as well with a gt-40 intake. ill defenatly go with long tubes and a just gotta run 3" exhaust. ive wanted 3" for a while, i dont care if i loose 5 hp over it.

i think the car will sit nice also when i install my motorsport b lowering springs.

ABSOLUTLY incorrect!

I have a small 347 and my combo NEEDS a 3".

The 3" exhaust will help my engine make more power from idle to 7000 rpm

HP sure but what about torque? How many 400+hp musclecars came with 3 inch exhaust? Sure, back then they didn't put much performance in exhaust but those cars made retarded torque. I've always understood that 3'' is great for high HP numbers but hurts torque.
