im trying to think which tires i would be better off with. i could get a 295/35/18 or a 275/40/18. theyll be going on a 9" rim, and as of now my 285/35s have a nice little bulge. which tire is gonna give me better straight line grip and grip in the corners? (average the two toghether) i figure the narrower tire will have more support in the corners when on a 9" rim, and the 40mm sidewall will provide some flex for launching. However, the 295 could be great for the strip but since it bulges alot more im worried it will be worse in the corners, then again the sidewall is only 35mm which means less flex. as far as i can see the two tires almost cancel each other out.. which should i get?

A correction for ya...

The 35 and 40 aren't the sidewall height in mm, but a percentage of the tire width in mm. So, 35% of the 295 tire would have a 103.25 mm sidewall and 40% of the 275 tire will have a 110 mm sidewall.

Now rethink your options.
