You'll be fine. I tow stuff everywhere with my 3.3L Xterra with no problem. I towed the vert back from Skokie to Grand Rapids with a tow dolly and a blazer. That 4runner will have no dilemna either way, but the flatbed will be a nicer trip home.

3 in ratchet straps with axle straps criscrossed to the back axle not to the body in the front one will work but make sure it is tight so when the car bounces it wont come off check and double check the car and then go a few miles and check it again if it is good you should be ok to continue but keep an eye on the car pretty good just incase something happens.

PS: I decided to drive it back... no way I can afford the transmission on my wife's car

4Runner, $450 a month- I try not to throw it in the love of my life's face, but seriously, that's too much $$$ for a freakin SUV -D@m the love!!!

Your Runner should be fine for towing, and 236HP V6 should have enough balls to get you going.
