Trac-Loc Rebuild Price

i got raped for over 500!

the whole rear had to come apart in my case..my spider gears were chipped..
and the shim kits to redo it..the clutch packs for the trac lock..
then all the new bearings while its open...the races..the gaskets..crush sleeve.
labor...oil....friction additive for the oil...
since the axles come out...new rear bearings..why not? and seals while your there...cause the old ones were bent removing em..
and pray your brake sensors dont crack apart when they try to get it apart/off

and the end result will be....both tires will burn rubber....you may get some wizzing if the gears arent shimmed right and the backlash isnt set and reset and then reset again......and youll be poorer like me......

hope u canjust slap it in there..but i dont think so..be prepared for a reaming/or beware!

BTW THATS AN EXCELL DEAL!!

u can get a whole complete rearend for lesss than 500 used...with the rotars calipers axles etc etc..prbly shox tooo and sway bar etc etc..

i would have dont that if i knew what i was gettin into...

yea ur prices are right on...the trac loc rebuid is about 50..but...the whole rearkit w/shims and all bearings everything!!is less than 150...
u would need that and gears..150
300
350 300 labor...all the quotes were 650 750 for total rebuild by me..and i called everyone!!!

i think the labor should include the trac loc rebuild..its not verry detailed to change the clutches and set it back up.
...my opinion..
also the complete rebuild kit is 150 which includes everyting u need.if you order the whole rear kit/gears
its cheaper...
i went thru all this after i got raped...i know for about 150 the complete rear kit is available...it has everything except the core of the trac loc.
make sure they use the additive, and you have to rechange the fluid after 500 miles.

740+tax?

now that im remembering more..if you look around...you can get a real racing type one ,for a good price.it kills me to payed so much to just have the stock rear!...850 bucks u should have something sweet back there!

I paid about $700 for the same stuff and it was done by a very reputable mechanic. Just knowing that it was being done right the first time was very nice. I couldn't be happier.

I think you've got a good price to go with. Just make sure the shop is reputable, then there shouldn't be any problems.

Because everythng will be new, bearings, seals, etc. This was not part of your package....

It also means I am sure you can find a better price for teh same thing closer to you... Mustangs unlimted is not overly cheap but thier website is pretty easy to browse for parts.
