Trac Lock Rebuild?

Im replacing a worn axle and wheel bearing. Since I will have the differential cover off I wanted to rebuild the Posi unit. My question is.. Can you rebuild the unit without taking the ring and pinion out ?

You can remove the carrier (which has the ring gear attached). The pinion gear does not have to come out.

nada, the ring gear is still there. Yoiu don't even take the dif out at all. I took me about 4 hours from start to finish, no lift, just a jack and jackstands, and a few common tools. Works goo,d wel worh the $40 or so i paid for the rebuild. nows the time to do it if you have to take the dif apart anyway. also you
ll have to take the axels out a little when rebuilding the trac lock, so you bsicly just gota put the new one in.
