Why is everyone with GT's complaining!! I look at it this way, take $4,000 and buy yourself the KB supercharger kit, 9psi. Then you'll be faster then the Cobra but still paying insurance rates on a GT and not have a higher monthly car payment! :D

Thats what I plan to do!

you don't just get a faster engine with the cobra. You also get...

1) much better seats
2) 6 speed manual that's properly geared from the factory
3) AWESOME brakes
4) bilstein shocks standard (much better than my old tokico 5 ways)
5) IRS
6) Better styling (IMO)
7) Probably a higher resale value
8) Better assembled car with less rattles and a more comfortable ride

my insurance went up $200/year and I'm 23 with no tickets or accidents.

I was about to order the KB 9psi for my GT but I didn't want to put the engine/trans at it's limits, so I got the Cobra. I'm extremely glad I did. It feels like a totally different car. IMO, worth the extra 10K. Suspension/brakes/seats/trans/ride/quality all better than the GT. It is very noticable. I loved my GT but I have basically forgotten about the car already (and I only had the Cobra 3 1/2 days). The Cobra is that good. If you are thinking about getting one, go to the dealership and test drive one. You'll be sold.

You forgot to say better hood, better front bumper, better rear bumper, side skirts, rear wing, SVT rims, SVT face gauges. Add all this to the color black and it is GLORIOUS!!!!! :D

I took half of that $4000 (less than $2000) bought the stuff in my Sig. and have close to 550 fwhp. For a GT to get that you will need much deeeeepppper pockets to be there & make it last any length of time.

My payment went up $40 a month, Insurance went up $10 a month. It can be done but just be smart about it.

As 2K1GtfromSC stated, the reason I'm a jealous GT owner isn't because of the Cobra's stock power, but its potential. For Christ's sake a stupid K&N kit gave it 30 rwhp! I put $4k into my car to s/c it and i'm only equal or slightly better than the Cobra stock(only in hp). Once the Cobra starts modding, forget it. A pulley, full exhaust, and a tune will send the Cobra deep into the 400 rwhp zone. I'd be hesitant to try and boost my stock block that much, so then I'd have to start forging it which is big $$. Sure, I could take my GT I paid $20k for and make it close to a Cobra for the $10k difference, but then the Cobra owner puts a few bucks into the car and starts leaving me in the dust.

Exactly what I was thinking. That is why I decided to get the Cobra
