96 mustang gt. T45 tranny. I cant get the top 2 bolts to seat in all the way. The bolts taper out wider the last 3/8 inch or so and thats as far as they go in. All the other bolts line up ang go in easy. I must be missing something easy but i cant get them to go in all the way. Any thoughts?

I want to to say on my 01 gt I had the 2 of the tranny bolts were longer than the others...? But cant remember for sure, too many years ago.

Also the 2 top tranny bolts need to be the 1st bolts you take out and the last 2 you put in.
Reason for me was if I tried to remove the top 2 last, the weight of the trans would make it hard to get them out, same putting them in.

+1 on above.

Make sure that the weight of the transmission is not "hanging" from the motor. Support the transmission. Make sure that the transmission is fully mated to the motor.

I too also remember different length bolts. Look at the relative thickness of the bosses that the bolts thread into or through. Thicker bosses mean longer bolts.
