I have a friend who is swapping the stock transmission in his 95 cobra for a t-56

I was thinking of doing an auto to manual swap in my 93 GT since I retired it. His current transmission has issues with 1st gear and he is selling it cheap to get money to buy the t-56.

Would the 95 transmission work in my 93? Is it worth buying it and rebuilding it or buying new?

Normally yes, you would swap the input shaft from a fox body t-5 as well as the bearing retainer over and call it a day.

However, i beleive the cobra uses a unique input shaft due to a revised pocket bearing design. The only input that may work is a 93 Cobra input shaft.

I could be wrong and the new pocket bearing is backwards compatible with the older input.

Another way is to use the SN95 bellhousing. The shifter will move about 1" closer to the driver (requiring some trimming) and the driveshaft may fit or may require aftermarket shortening
