So I recieved the "correct" bellhousing yesterday in the mail. If some of you don't remember my story, I have to get a new tranny and bellhousing because mine went out like the 4th of july. Well, someone sold me a 99 v-6 tranny swearing it would bolt up and work the same. The tranny's are identical and the bellhousing mounts up nicely. Thing is when I reinstalled the starter, when you turn it over, it won't hit the flywheel. Someone told me that the bellhousing on the 94-95 was just a hair smaller in the starter region because of the difference in flywheels.

Now to today, ripped the old bellhousing out and reinstalled with the "correct" one. It's suppose to be off a 94 5.0. But yet I still get the same problem?? It just turns over, but won't hit the flywheel. Can anyone please help me out?? The flywheel is on the correct way also. I've had ppl ask me that one. Starter when turned over operates correctly. It turns and pushes that gear out. Anyone else had this problem? Anyone else install a 99 v-6 tranny in a 94 - 95 5.0???

Here is the ebay listing from the bellhousing I bought.

Someone just now also suggested that maybe I recieved the wrong flywheel when I went and had it turned?? They said ford makes different size flywheels and that even if they are a different diameter, it would still bolt up. What are the chances of this?? Can anyone tell me the correct diameter I need. Do you measuse straight across from tooth to tooth or tooth to the shaft hole??

You count the teeth on it. The 5.0's have 157 teeth and the 3.8's have 164 teeth. Someone prolly sold you another 3.8 bellhousing. I'd be pi$$ed. Especially if they sold to you it as a 5.0 bell. Ebay? SN Classifieds?

It was from ebay. The part number on the bellhousing is RF-F4Zr-6394-DA. If I'm not mistaking, the F4 means it was out of a 94?? I was thinking maybe the dude gave me the wrong flywheel when he got finished turning it??? What else could be wrong??

The OLD shattered bellhousing wore the same item number, but the last two ended with CA, not DA as the new one does.

The flywheel on the car now has the part number stamped. It is, RF-E1ZR6380-A2A.

SOMEONE please help me out with this.

Think I found the problem. I'm pretty sure I just got jipped...I put the old bellhousing back together to get the relative size of it and put it in the new bellhousing I recieved. The new bellhousing I recieved is larger than the old bellhousing. Also the old one does NOT have 5.0 stamped on it. Hopefully I can get something worked out here. Thanks all.
