Ok I know I am going to need a tranny soon. My T-5 will pop out of 3rd if you arent in the throtle when its in 3rd. Plus I love to race it so I know it wont hole up to what I want to throw at it. Id Like to go with a T-56. What are my options and what am I looking at price wise? Oh and also where should I look for one?

Why do you want a 6-speed as opposed to a 5-speed? Check out www.ddperformance.com

Reason I asked the question above (not do be a jerk or anything) is because I see numerous people wanting to go with T-56 without any real reason for it other than the "I have a T-56" boast.

The type of driving you intend on doing, gear ratio, etc. are some determining factors that would help you make a better informed choice.
We all know the Viper Spec T-56 is plenty strong..but so is a TKO500, for less money.

I want it for the extra gear and strength (viper spec). The car has 4.10s in it and 26" tall tires. The extra over drive will be nice for the highway. Its set up for straight line acceleration, but i like to take it out cruzin... Main purpose of the car is drag only. Its not going to ever see any autocross or road racing or Daily driving duites. The weekend is the only time the car goes out. Oh and I will need a tranny that can handle 700hp/700tq. Can a T-5 handle that power levels?

Every T-5 I've blown or seen blown gets stuck in a gear and doesn't pop out

Short shifter?

Lets put it this way everyone whos driven the stang is surprised that the T-5 has held up so far. It has a twin disc clutch and a pro 5.0 short throw on it. The cars sole purpose it to be driven hard and thats what happens at the track (most of its mile is on track nights).
