tranny problems

a friend of mine just bought a 93 stang with a 2.3 and it has some tranny issues.he said it will go into all the forward gears but will not go into reverse.when in the foward gears it doesnt pull very hard though. he also said that it has a leak.any ideas on what could be wrong with it other than being low on tranny fluid.can it be fixed easy or is it time for a new tranny?

it doesnt pull hard because its a 2.3l....just kidding. it could be a clutch issue. it wont go into reverse at all or its just hard to get into reverse.

Is it a Auto or 5spd, Does it go into reverse at all?? If it leaks, then a seal is most likely the cause, unless it has been abused and the case is cracked.
If it is a 5 spd, then maybe the motor is tired, or if the trans has no fluid or has been ran low the bearings could cause drag. Try takeing it to a trans service center that does free estimates and see what they have to say.

it is an automatic, and he said that it wouldnt go into reverse at all and was real sluggish in foward gears, even more sluggish than a 2.3 is supposed to be..lol

when he gives it gas and its in gear does it just rev up and not go anywhere. Kind of like if you had the clutch pushed in half way on a 5spd car? My guess would deff be time for a new tranny.
