I know hesitation is a part of having an automatic pcm after a 5-speed tranny swap. What about feeling slower than before? Is this also the result of not swapping out the auto pcm to a t4mo? Will the T4mo really wake up my stang? I need reassurance that the pcm is the only thing holding back power otherwise I will feel as if the swap was a complete waste. Thanx.

Did you try an disconnect the speedo wire from the tail shaft? That helped me find out I needed a 5 speed computer or chip after doing my swap. I am telling you it will fix the problem until you get a chip or 5 speed computer

I know i said to try it in another thread but you don't seem to want to listen to someone who has done he swap already and also tunes their own car with tweecer. When I did my swap I didn't change the computer and when you got on it and when the auto would have shifted it fell on its face bad

Take a look other people say the same thing

Quote for the allfordmustangs article (he used a chip with auto functions off)

There has been much debate about the AODE EEC processors not working when doing a T5 swap. On this swap we used the same U4P0 Aode processor but with one additional component: An EEC Tuner Board.

With the Tuner we were able to modify the EEC Program by making just 1 parameter change :

TRANS_LOAD_TYPE_SWITCH=0

The default of 6 is for an AODE tranny.

If you keep the stock program the engine will hesitate a bit when the EEC senses its time for an AODE shift.)

MY tuner always says he can make any ECM work with any trans with a tune. I would suggest getting a tune. Hopefully your guy can do it. I have sold my tuner AT ECM's and he tunes them for stick cars....or vice versa.

i did the t5 swap with no problems at all, i bought a 5 speed computer and harness, put it all in and never looked back.

i think you may need a computer or take it to someone that can tune it for that computer, either way the money is about the same, proubly cheaper for the computer and harness, i paid about 150.00 for my computer and harness on ebay.

as for performance, night and day!!! i went from a 14.5 to a 14.1 in the 1/4, then i bumped the timing and air pressure down to 22psi and took all the crap out of the trunk, including tire and clliped of a 13.9.

the aode chews up about 25 to 30 hp over a 5 speed, plus you can dump the stick at a higher rpm at launch.

Its been a while since my swap. Still feels a lilltle slow especially 1st gear. peels out and everything but while normal driving, 1st gear sounds good , but car feels slow. I mentioned previously that I got codes 189 and 181 running lean so that might be the cause.
