what tranny do i have? its an 89 vert with 302 its auto, but not an aod. it says "metric" on the tranny pan and shift pattern is p-r-n-o/d-d-1?? is it the e40d? i just dont know

It's an AOD.

AOD's say METRIC on the oil pan and have that shift pattern.

yeah its stock aod. unless it said c4 or c6 on it lol. and youd know if it wasnt stock from just driving the car in most cases

Nope, that would be the A4LD which was the trans used with the 2.3L 4-banger Mustangs.
