Trans cable clip missing, Please help.

I was installing my 3g alternator today and noticed that the cable from the trans to the throttle isn't connected. The clip and bushing are gone. Does anyone have a picture of what I'm missing? I cant find a mustang in the junk yard that still has one.
Most of them have the motor yanked with a torch and wire cutters. *there outta be against that*

I have a 90 5.0 efi and AOD in a 79 Notch.

Thanks.

I couldn't find a picture online of what you're missing, but you can get a new one from any parts store. What you are looking for is a plastic grommet/bushing that the Tranmission Kickdown cable connects to. I know for a fact that the Help! brand of generic replacement parts you find in a lot of parts stores (always in red packaging, really inexpensive, generic repair items) actually sells a multi piece kit that includes new plastic grommets for the Kickdown cable for a number of different cars, Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc. So, you might not need the two extras, but at least you'll get what you need.

I seem to recall the OEM piece was kind of a POS and Ford upgraded it (what you would be buying now).

Good luck.

Yeah,

The oem plastic bushing was a POS and for upgraded it to a brass bushing with a hairpin sytle cotter clip pin(thats the technical term anywasy :D )

You should be able to get the bushing and pin from a dealership or look on www.50resto.com. That is where I got mine from.

thats what i was about to say....

Set TV cable according to manual. Or have tranny shop do it for you. You can atleast get it installed close to where it should be so it wont damage your tranny. Pull cable till there is no slack and than just a tad more, than fasten and your done. Take it to shop to have them fine tune it.
