i have a aod trans i like the auto i know you guy like stick but i have what i have my aod is going i would like to know should i rebuild it or go with a c6 what is the diff from a aod and a c6 pos cons the c6 has a stall 2200 to 2600

the c6 is a badass tranny, but only for bigblocks and trucks that tow a lot of heavy stuff. it eats up about 67 HP to turn it since it has heavy internals. you need to rebuild that aod or swap over to a c4/c5. c6's are great trannies and can handle a lot of TQ but like i said, unless you have a 514 stroker putting out over 700 hp and 600 ft/pds of tq then you don't need it. those numbers are not what the c6 can handle but it sounds good. it can handle a lot more than the c4 or aod. stay with an aod or c4/c5

It can take whatever stall, I know a guy with a 5500 stall with a AOD. Go with a properly built AOD. I'm selling mine with 0 miles for $600, and it's good for 600 hp. Just get a trans shop that maybe you know someone at and can trust for a good build, use transgo shiftkit or a lentech valve body and roll out

i have researched all this as well as i have an aod as well. there's a 2000 stall you can get for around 160, and a 23 or 2400 stall for around 275, as long as it's a lock up type converter you should be ok, as far as cruising on the freway in od, it will be locked up and not slipping.
as far as power/rebuilding from what i have researched it depends on what you wanna pay. you can sppend 2 grand on a high dollar lenteck and it' will handle anything a 302 will throw at it. basically, you want a trans go shift kit or high performance valve body, heavy duty clutches and bands, an external cooler, and i believe there's a couple other mods a good tranny shop can do to it and it should be good to go. probably cost about a grand if you took it somewhere and had them do it all........labors the killer there....

this suc** i have a good friend that was going to give up his c6 he just dont need it ok the c6 is out i dont have that much hp i was going for 350 to 425 hp in time so as far as the aod the labor,is free i just need to know what to get so if you guys know can you give me a list of all parts

try searching the web under aod rebuild kits, or try b&m or one of many other tranny companies they have rebuild kits. there's even a video out for rebuilding it i saw on e-bay......i'm sure there's a do it yourself hi po rebuild web site somewhere out here in cyber land.
there right you would'nt want a c-6, if anything a c-4 but since you have an aod already and are sticking with an auto you might as well build the aod and take advantage of having the overdrive.

i heard bye many tranny shops that the aod is the hardest and most expensive to rebuild because you need a lot of specialty tools just for that tranny

i bought all my own parts and i replaced every thing on my aod cost me 580 from a realy good tranny shop i will be home monday

matters wut you get. I went with a kit with red clutch disks in them supposely there the best, also got a dacco torque converter 4500 stall, harden input shaft, police interceptor sprag, police interceptor high mph band, stage 2 trans go shift kit.

this is what i just got installed she'll be home tuesday i let you no how the combo is.but wut ever you do whom ever does the work to your trannie make shure your tv cable is set up right if not you will waste all your money cause your tranny will crap the bed
