trans problem.. no 2nd gear!!??

ok..this is wierd. my car cannot downshift into 2nd gear at all when cruiseing..no grinding.. just wont go in,,well it will if i muscle the heck out of it.
i can however down **** into it when im at 15mph or less or complete stop. but jumps out alot of times. 1 to 2 shift is fine.im stumped.. i added some fluid today and helped a little.. the fluid in there is all gray and runny.im gonna flush it then.
any idears? lol thanks matt. car has a steeda tri ax shifter on it.. i adjusted the stops too,.,,,

great lol. it grinds into first any way..lol so it has to be done sooner or later..
so its internal then?

Yup, it's time. If you have the skills and a moderate set of hand tools (plus a hydraulic press, about 100 bucks), you can do the rebuild yourself. The rebuild kit is about $100-150, can't remember, and it's actually quite easy. It can get a little more expensive if any of the gears need replacing.

Spend the extra money and get a kevlar rebuild kit.. It's a bit more money but deff. better...and lasts longer
